UHNC’s Patient Navigator
The title sounds like someone who will use their map and compass to lead patients through the wilderness. While Joyce doesn’t usually bring her atlas to work, she is here to help Umpqua Health – Newton Creek patients understand the programs available to them.
“I love helping our patients with whatever their needs may be!” Says Joyce Leaton, UHNC Patient Navigator.
A big part of Joyce’s job is processing applications for Umpqua Health – Newton Creek’s financial assistance program known as Pathways. Pathways offers discounted care to patients who cannot afford medical bills. Umpqua Health believes that everyone has a right to quality medical care regardless of their ability to pay, and that’s where Joyce and the Pathways program comes in.
Leaton can also help patients navigate medical assistance applications, arrange transportation to their medical appointments, or pretty much tackle any barrier to care UHNC patients may be facing. Leaton is naturally friendly, enthusiastic and kind, and she brings those qualities into her work with patients.
“I hope that I can help make our patients’ lives a little less stressful,” says Leaton. “Our patients are our top priority, and I’m proud to be able to help them get the care they need.”
